Kate wrote the “Interracial Families” section of the Family +1 Adoption curriculum for prospective Adoptive Families at Hillsong Church in South Africa.
This is an amazing course that spanned several weeks to prepare families for all the different beauties and challenges of adopting.
She was also was invited to speak on the same subject at the Arise Adoption Conference in Cape Town.
Getting to speak to prospective families about the importance of Race Identity Development for their children is one of her greatest passions. It is unfortunately one of the most over-looked aspects of inter-racial adoption that has very real consequences for a healthy self identity in adopted children.
